Lansvale Public School Newsletter Lansvale Public School Chancery Street, Canley Vale NSW 2166 9724 5252 lansvale -p.school@det.nsw.edu.au Website www.lansvale -p.schools.nsw.edu.au 12th June 2020 (Week 7) Principal ’s message It was confirmed this week that our Principal Mark Diamond will return to Lansvale Public School from the first day of next term (20 July). As you know, Mark has been enjoying his time relieving as Executive Principal at Boggabilla Central School which is approx 12kms from the Queensland town of Goondiwindi where he has been residing. We look forward to hearing about his experiences at Boggabilla when he returns. Attendance It has been wonderful to see that all students have returned to school full time and that there is quality teaching and learning happening in every classroom. The staff at Lansvale would like to thank all parents and caregivers for continuing to being committed to ensuring that Lansvale is a learning focused community. Thank you also to most families who work very hard to ensure that their child/ children are at school ready to learn by 9am. It has come to the school ’s attention that there are a number of students who are arriving to school after 9am each day. Teachers have reported that this is incredibly disruptive as the entire class ’ learning is interrupted by late arrivals. The first two hours between 9 -11am are the most critical learning hours in the day and late students are impacting on this vital time. I have attached a document from the Department of Education which outlines the impact that arriving late to school can have on a student ’s learning. The statistics are frightening. We want every child at Lansvale to have the best opportunity to maximise their learning and arriving to school on time is essential for this to happen. Please model being on time to school for your children. Learning about Learning from Home Our staff have been reflecting on what worked well during remote learning and are adapting their classroom teaching to include some aspects that were successful when students were working from home. We would really like to understand what worked well from your perspective with your children at home. A survey will go out this week to understand from your perspective what aspects of remote learning would continue to work well now that we are back at school. We will also seek feedback in the next P & C meeting. • Principal ’s Message • Attendance • Learning about Learning from Home • Assemblies • Semester 1 Reports and Parent/Teacher Interviews • P & C Meeting • School Plan 2021 • Creative Leadership in Learning Project • Important Updates
